With reference to your letter of the 14th July, 1910,
forwarding an application that you may be apointed of His Majesty's
Counsel for Cyprus, I have the honour to inform you that His Ex-
cellency The High Commissioner has received a despatch from the
Right Hononable the Secretary of State for the Colonies in which
he states: -
*I regret to inform you that, having regard to the
*peculiar position of Cyprus, I am not disposed to
"advise His Majesty to create King's Counsel in
"the Island. I recognize, however, that were it
"possible to grant it, Mr. Bucknill's position,
"abilities and record of service would qualify
"him amply for this distinction."
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
(sd.) T. H. Hatton Richards,
Acting Chief Secretary to Government.
